Moo.com Celebrity Card Contest Entry – Christopher Columbus!
If you haven’t heard of Moo.com and you’re in need of some new business cards/stickers and labels ETC – visit their site now! Definitely my top pick for creative business cards that I’ve heard get to you quickly and in great quality. I’m about to place my order after much over-thinking about my personal business cards. I digress…
I signed up for Moo’s e-mail newsletter and I read it every now and again. This week included was a link to their blog post about their celebrity card competition. Each week a new “celebrity” is chosen and participants enter designs for business cards that these figures would hypothetically carry. Past weeks have been Zeus and The Tooth Fairy and this week’s chosen figure was Christopher Columbus. I decided to give it a go (the prize is $300 cash and $100 to spend at Moo.com!) and here is my entry:
The front of the card contains Columbus’ coat of arms, as depicted in his Book of Privileges.
The background on both the front and back of the card is a map drawn by Bartolomeo and Christopher Columbus in 1490.
On the front is included Columbus’ title: an explorer and a navigator plus his rank of ‘Admiral of the Ocean Sea‘ given to him by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella after his first successful voyage under their financing.
The back of the card includes his would-be slogan “Sailing the ocean blue since 1492,” e-mail address (where all interest in funding explorations can be sent, ) website address, and three ships representing the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
I hope to win this competition so wish me luck, and if not I will for certain enter in future Moo.com competitions!
